Thawing Recommendations
Depending on where you purchase your Pup Kitchen food, it may be provided frozen. To ensure the best dining experience for your pup, follow these recommended thawing methods:
- The Refrigerator: This is the most recommended method. Simply place the frozen bag in your refrigerator one to two days before it's needed. Once thawed, the food will remain fresh in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Quick Thaw Under Cool Running Water: If you need to thaw the food more quickly, place the sealed bag in your sink and run cool water over it for about 10-15 minutes. This method is quick and effective.
- Microwave: If you're in a pinch and need food immediately, you can use your microwave's defrost to thaw the bag of food. For a one-pound bag, start with one minute on medium power, check the food, and continue defrosting in 30-second intervals if necessary. It’s important to use the entire bag once microwaved, as reheating or storing microwaved portions is not recommended.
- Our food comes fully cooked: When using a microwave to thaw, please use the defrost mode only—ensure you are not cooking the food further.
- Even Thawing: Ensure that the food is evenly thawed before serving to your dog.
- Check the Temperature: Always check the food temperature to make sure it's comfortable for your dog to eat.
- Safe Handling: Discard any unused thawed food left at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
By following these guidelines, you can keep your pup happy and healthy!
